Great ideas ! Can I add the simple What's in the Bag Game is very popular and successful even with 2 year olds.I sing a little What's in the Bag song Including as the second line [Child's name }can you tell me what's in the bag.You need a cloth bag and you need age appropriate toys and real objects targeting Auditory bombardment ,or PA, or syllable numbers i.e. what ever I am working on.It also works for language. The number of items depends on the child's attention, listening skills and compliance.8 toys is good because it is a turntaking and listening game and can be played with siblings too.The idea is that the child listens for his name as in"John can you tell me what's in the bag. he /she takes out one toy and names it. Then it is Mum's turn so she sings again using her own name takes out an object and names it .It is good to put the toys on the floor and also when packing up put toys back saying bye bye .....Sounds twee but the children love it in fact one family calls me the bag lady! It works with groups and can be linked with the School Curriculum e.g. putting adult and baby animals together, floating and sinking etc. With older children pictures can be used.It also works to maximize attention and turntaking so you can put a few rhyming jigsaws or syllable jigsaws in to be matched and said .A million uses in fact and it works well with SSD children too.Parents play the game as homework and they are very inventive with their objects. Little figures of current TV characters are very popular too.I am sure you all know about this but I can guarantee its success! Libby

Subject: [phono-tx] All about speech homework
Dear Caroline and Group,
I stress the importance of home practice to the parents and other
family members of the children I see with speech and language
disorders. My aim is to give the child and family something to do
that is fun and that can be achieved. This varies from from family
to family, but one thing that I find is very helpful and fits into
the time constraints of family life is teaching parents to use story
reading time for speech homework.
