Lab Technician
Southeastern Archaeological Research, Inc. (SEARCH) is seeking a full-time Laboratory Specialist to support multiple Phase I, II, and III projects across North Carolina, Hampton Roads, Mid-Atlantic, Florida, and the West Indies. The position will be based out of SEARCH�s office in Jacksonville, North Carolina and may include extended travel to SEARCH�s other office locations across FL, NC, VA and HI, or project locations, as warranted. Applicants should already reside locally or be willing to relocate to the area at their own expense.
Applicants should have:
--MA (preferred) or BA in Anthropology or related field
--Completion of an archaeology field school
--General training in artifact processing, identification, and analysis
--Specialized training in a particular region, artifact class, or resource type (Tidewater lithic technology is preferred)
--Additional skill sets in related disciplines (GIS, CAD, artifact photography, conservation, etc.)
--Five years laboratory experience
--Superior technical writing ability
--Experience preparing collections to Federal curation standards
--Fluency in MS Office software suite
--Ability to work well in a team environment under the direction of a Laboratory Director and/or Principal Investigators
The successful applicant will be highly organized, be able to meet deadlines, work well on multiple simultaneous projects, and have attention to detail. Experience in cultural resource management and experience working on DoD and DOT projects is preferred. This position is not suitable for applicants with schedule limitations, those wishing to work remotely, or those looking for part-time or freelance work.
