Hi everyone, this is my first post, thanks for having me!
I currently have a 4 year old on my caseload who has a number of different speech and langauge issues. We have worked successfully on a number of typical phonological processes (e.g. cluster reduction) and individual sounds, but I have become stuck on how to help him with his frequent (what I am calling) 'syllabic spoonerisms'. For example, as the cognitive and linguisitc load of a sentence increases he will reverse the word 'elephant' to 'elpephant' and 'very' to 'ev-ry'. I have taught him how to count and clap out syllables in the hope of strengthening the integrity of his syllabic structure and he is quite goood at this now, however the spoonerisms are still occurring. I really don't believe he is dyspraxic, given that he is able to imitate and has successfully overcome the above phon. processes. His voice is quite monotonous (not ASD though) - could it possibly be something motoric?
Any help and suggestions much appreciated!
