As a mum of a young man with semantic-pragmatic disorder i can attest to the positive impact of physical activity upon his arousal levels and ability to learn. His self esteem is so much higher when he has been active and consequently it is easier for him to engage in SLT which he would see as a high risk activity as he is highly self critical.

I now spend some time in a multidisciplinary clinic where sensory
integration (SI) is one of the therapeutic approaches on offer as part of
the occupational therapist toolkit, not exclusively but dependent on the
child's 'sensory' and other profiles (yes, the roots lie in Jean Ayres
work).
