RE: [phono-tx] vowels only, severe SSD

That all sounds fantastic, Sonya!

I have heard /b/ for /m/ many times - usually associated with adenoids, or
some other nasal obstruction including obstruction due to allergic rhinitis.
Ifit is just happening with on word (bilk for milk) it might just be a
frozen form; a relic from when he was younger. If it is happening with lots
of words it might be interesting to look at the words and see if there is an
assimilatory effect between the (stop) /k/ and /m/, so that /m/ is relaised
as (stop) /b/.

One of my great moments in therapy - well, a funny moment anyway, was a
child saying to me "My bum is all itchy". I was just wondering why he didn't
seem uncomfortable when his mother chimed it, "Yes, I've had this terrible
eczema for days!"

Which reminds me, and this is completely unrelated, I had a "backer" aged 5
a few weeks ago who said, "My gag hakes corry anger buck he eaks ik because
mum is the besskook in Auskralia".

Best wishes,
Caroline

("My dad hates coriander but he eats it because mum is the best cook in
Australia")
