[phono-tx] Re: toddlers in therapy

Thank you! I will look into these various approaches and see what I can add to my current repetoire. I also like the earlier suggestion from the SLP who does the Hanan program in a more structured way, sometimes with groups. Right now I am sort of doing it piecemeal. I am thinking also of maybe combining various suggestions from different books and programs and creating my own set of handouts with suggested activities. All of these ideas have been sort of percolating in my mind, and I think I am ready myself to being some more structure to what I am doing and how I do it. The late talker group does not seem to be going away! I get a new one every week!

What have you found, approximately, in your population of late talkers the end result to be? I mean, what percentage have an SSD, what percentage "naturally" resolve, and what percentage have other delays/disabilities (cognitive or spectrum kids)? Just a ballpark figure...do you ever see in this group children who seem to be particularly talented in another area (ex: nonverbal skills)? Are you able to follow the kids to see what impact it has on them later, as they begin school? I am not, as our children leave us when they turn 3, so I am narrowly focused on this very young age group.

Thanks for the input! Kerry
