SWCA is actively seeking to fill one or more cultural resources technician positions for an upcoming field project in eastern/central Oregon within our Cultural Resources Program for our Portland office. These positions are hourly and may include five to six sessions of eight days each. Overtime is possible. Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience. The possibility exists for promotion into full-time, benefited positions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of a Field Technician include:
• Work in the field under the supervision of Field Supervisors in the performance of archaeological fieldwork;
• Conduct archaeological monitoring, survey, testing and data recovery;
• Demonstrate ability to contribute to team efforts during cultural resources field and lab work;
• Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner

Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience with archaeological survey and methodology is required. A Bachelor's Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field is preferable. Knowledge of archaeology and historic cultural resources of eastern/central Oregon is also a plus. Field school or equivalent experience is also minimally required. Candidates must be able to travel and be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather conditions, often in rugged terrain and sometimes at high altitudes, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. Per diem is $46/day. Hotel room accommodations are provided, and travel time is paid.
