[ShovelBums.Org] Field Technicians - Utah and Wyoming

ENTRIX, Inc., is seeking several additional archaeological technicians within our Cultural Resources Program for our Salt Lake City office.  These are project-specific hourly fieldwork positions and may entail working on an archaeological inventory in south-central Utah, excavations in central Wyoming, and/or other projects.  The Utah and Wyoming projects will both involve camping on a 10-day on/4-day off work schedule.  The projects are scheduled to last at least into late October, likely under occasionally inclement weather conditions to be expected in the fall at relatively high elevations in Utah and Wyoming.  The Utah and Wyoming projects will both involve camping on a 10-day on/4-day off work schedule.

Desired qualifications include a BS or BA degree in anthropology (with an emphasis in archeology) and either previous excavation experience or at least two years experience conducting archaeological surface inventory. Candidates must be able to conduct strenuous fieldwork for long hours in rugged terrain under sometimes difficult weather conditions, including potentially walking 10 miles or more per day during inventory.  Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience. A $35 per diem and single occupancy motel room will be provided for any non-camping projects.  A substantially higher per diem will be paid for camping projects.

If interested, please send a cover letter and copy of your resume to Craig Smith at csmith@entrix.com.

The most important aspect of this list is that it is for one purpose only.: announcing jobs/non paying volunteer postings in the international CRM field at all levels; Field Tech, Professors, SHPO's, etc...  Caveat Emptor though my friends.  Not all jobs pay the same, nor is their treatment of employees the same - as the companies are checking your references, you should also check them out - make sure they pay fair wages, treat their employees professionally, and do quality work.  If you have at least a BA you deserve fair remuneration, so ask for it, and in turn you provide your employer with excellent service.   You ARE a trained professional, NOT a "shovelbum"  - the name is in jest - act professional, expect to be treated like one.
