GIS Technician--Western Cultural Resource Management, Inc.

 

Western Cultural Resource Management, Inc. (WCRM) is a cultural resource management firm with offices in Boulder, CO; Farmington, NM; Phoenix, AZ; and Sparks, NV.  We are looking for a GIS technician for our Sparks office, near Reno, Nevada.  This staff member will be responsible for preparing professional archaeological maps from field sketch maps and from GPS and total station data.  Successful applicant will also build maps to support field work, archive mapping data, and manage GIS/GPS data.  A thorough knowledge of map datums and projections is a necessity. Knowledge of archaeology strongly preferred.

 

This GIS drafting position requires an intimate knowledge of ArcGIS 9.x and AutoCAD Map 3D and an understanding of their interoperability.  Applicants need to be able to create, import, and export shape files and to perform heads-up digitizing using either program.

 

Some duties include importing X-Y data, joining attribute tables, georeferencing rasters extracted from PDF files, and using aerial imagery and digital topo maps.  Knowledge of TDS total station software is a plus.  Applicants also need to be familiar with Trimble Pathfinder Office and Terrasync software.

• Ability to work independently, take direction, and work well with people at all levels
