[ShovelBums.Org] Archaeologist needed for 2 year contract in Austin, Texas

 

Precision Resource Company is seeking a contract Archaeologist for a long-term (2 years) assignment to be based in Austin, Texas.
The successful candidate will review various alternative electric transmission routes for potential adverse effects on historic properties using GIS, make recommendations to THC (TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION) staff for archeological survey of appropriate portions of those routes, and review the survey reports for accuracy and completeness upon submission by consulting firms. If important archeological sites cannot be avoided by construction of the lines, the reviewer will make recommendations to the THC staff for testing and mitigation of adverse effects and will review any testing and mitigation reports submitted by consulting firms.

Job duties will include: identification of areas that require archeological survey based on the evaluation of existing archeological, topographic, and geomorphic data; evaluation of archeological sites using the National Register criteria (36 CFR 60.4); review of technical reports; and making corrections to the Texas Archeological Sites Atlas.
To ensure compliance with company's standards, policies, process requirements and service level agreements.

•An advanced degree in Archaeology/Anthropology;
•Minimum of five years of managing CRM compliance projects; West Texas experience is strongly desired;
•A thorough knowledge of Arc-GIS software.
•A thorough understanding of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas;
•Strong oral and written communication skills.

THIS PERSON WILL BE PAID $2,500 EVERY 2 WEEKS MAX $65,000 PER YEAR.
