Established in 1998, Landsong Heritage Consulting Ltd. conducts archaeology and traditional land use assessments in northeastern, central and interior British Columbia and in Alberta.  Landsong is based out of Moberly Lake, BC, located ~120km southwest of the city of Fort St. John, BC.

We currently have the following positions available:

Archaeologist / Project Manager

This position entails managing archaeology and traditional land use projects.  Responsibilities include: conducting and supervising fieldwork, overseeing the Landsong Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Program during fieldwork, project reporting for submission to clients and regulators and winter laboratory test analysis.  Applicants should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as demonstrate attention to detail and project timeframes.  Archaeologists will be required to work closely with Field Directors and Operations Manager and must be able to take direction from senior staff.  Qualified applicants must have completed a university degree in archaeology or anthropology (archaeology major) and an archaeology field school program at an accredited university, college, or equivalent field experience.  This position is full-time/permanent and includes a comprehensive benefits package.  Pay will reflect the applicant’s experience and education with wages starting at $53,000 per year.  Applicants must be willing to relocate.

All Landsong team members comply with the WorkSafe BC Standards and the Landsong EHS Program.  Certifications and training for field positions include:

  • BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 and Transportation Endorsement
  • H2S Alive
  • WHMIS
  • ATV Certification (BC WorkSafe Standard)
  • UTV Certification
  • Snowmobile Safety
  • Defensive Driving
  • Bear Aware
  • Ground Disturbance

Experience with consulting archaeology and work with aboriginal communities in northeastern, central and/or interior BC is an asset.  Orienteering and experience driving 4x4 trucks and operating ATVs and snowmobiles is also an asset.  All applicants must have a valid driver’s license (i.e. Class 5 BC Driver’s License) and provide a Driver’s Abstract.  Applicants must be in excellent physical health as fieldwork is often strenuous.

GIS Mapper / Archaeologist

This position entails producing maps for archaeological and aboriginal traditional land use assessments, some administrative assistance and managing archaeology and traditional land use projects.  Position would be three to four days producing maps and one to two days fieldwork.  Landsong utilizes ArcView/ArcGIS 10 and government managed R.A.A.D. & H.R.I.A. databases.  Qualified applicants must have GIS mapping experience, experience with ArcView/ArcGIS and have completed a university degree in archaeology or anthropology (archaeology major) with an archaeology field school program at an accredited university, college, or equivalent field experience.  Graphics experience and knowledge of Photoshop and Corel Draw is an asset.  University, College or Technical training is preferred.  Personnel will be required to work closely with the Operations Manager and Project Managers and should possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.  This position is full-time/permanent and includes a comprehensive benefits package.  Pay will reflect the applicant’s experience and education with wages starting at $53,000 per year.  Applicants must be willing to relocate.
