Hey folks,
This is is a non-job related announcement.
In preparation for the 100th anniversary of Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) being used for archaeology I am laying the ground work for making 2012/2013 the year(*) KAP moves from a rarely used technique in archaeology to becoming a synoptic tool as common (and a lot cheaper ;-) than geophysics. Later this year I will be providing more information about my initiative.
What I am looking for right now is other archaeologists who have been involved with KAP to participate in a forum on KAP in archaeology at the SAA's in Memphis. There *might* be a follow up forum in Hawaii in 2013 (that is contingent on me actually being able to go to Hawaii as I cover all of my own expenses through Shovelbums, and that's a shallow trough to drink from).
I moved my family recently to Michigan. With the chaos of a move with three kids I am cutting it close to the deadline for organizing this. The symposium information needs to be submitted by Thursday September 15th. So if you know someone with a background in KAP who might be interested in participating in this forum I would appreciate it if you could forward this to them ASAP. I will need to hear from interested people by end of business Monday.
I can be reached at rjoe@Shovelbums.org or the contact form at www.Shovelbums.org
Thanks for your time.
Best,
R. Joe
(*)From the information I have on Sir Henry Wellcome's use of KAP it is not clear if he utilized it in the 1912 or 1913 field season so I am treating the 100th anniversary as starting in 2012 and ending in 2013.
PS - I am composing this on my phone so forgive any typos.

The most important aspect of this list is that it is for one purpose only.: announcing jobs/non paying volunteer postings in the international CRM field at all levels; Field Tech, Professors, SHPOs, etc... Caveat Emptor though my friends. Not all jobs pay the same, nor is their treatment of employees the same - as the companies are checking your references, you should also check them out - make sure they pay fair wages, treat their employees professionally, and do quality work. If you have at least a BA you deserve fair remuneration, so ask for it, and in turn you provide your employer with excellent service. You ARE a trained professional, NOT a "shovelbum" - the name is in jest - act professional, expect to be treated like one.
