SWCA Environmental Consultants is an employee-owned company of environmental professionals who specialize in natural and cultural resource management, environmental planning, and regulatory compliance.

We are seeking a Cultural Resources Project Manager for our Pasadena, California office. This is a regular, full-time, salaried position that will report to the Cultural Resources Program Director. Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

 

A Project Manager at SWCA has ultimate responsibility for successful execution of a contract, participating in all aspects of projects, including staffing, fieldwork, research, report writing, and review. The PM develops and manages project budgets, participates in marketing and proposal efforts; supervises personnel in the field, office, and laboratory; and works closely with SWCA's managers and directors throughout the company. He or she maintains SWCA's high standard of quality control and takes initiative to resolve problems and create improved procedures. The PM assists in the continuing development of SWCA's cultural resource program and expands SWCA's professional reputation in cultural resources consulting and research throughout California.

Skills Required:

  • Well-developed leadership skills;
  • Multi-tasking and organizational abilities;
  • Anticipates problems early and takes action;
  • Excellent technical writing skills with a record of completing technical reports in a timely fashion;
  • Stays current on historic/prehistoric research in the region and oversees accuracy of reports on research-related issues;
  • Can effectively discuss research questions and results to non-specialist clients and the public;
  • Adapts rapidly to changes in project needs, agency requests, etc.;
  • Able to work independently and collaborate with a variety of colleagues, clients, and agency representatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, or a closely related field.
  • At least five years experience in cultural resources management (CRM) on a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.

·         At least three years of experience in CRM in a supervisory capacity.

  • At least one year experience managing CRM projects, including budgets, scheduling, and scopes of work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, or a closely related field.
  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards in archaeology, architectural history, or history.
  • Extensive experience with California archaeology, architectural history, or history.
  • Experience with CEQA, NHPA Section 106, and NEPA.
  • Possess advanced skills and knowledge in one or more specialty areas.
  • Has completed all aspects of a project, from pre-field tasks to final report preparation for a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.
  • Primary report authorship in a CRM context for a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.
  • Has provided QA/QC review of field documents, site forms, and reports.
  • Primary report authorship in a CRM context for a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.
  • Has led large crews and/or multiple crews on a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.
  • Has conducted marketing, business development, and completed proposals.
  • Has effectively developed and communicated broad-spectrum program and company goals and objectives.
  • Has worked on an interdisciplinary team.
