SWCA Environmental Consultants is an employee-owned company of environmental professionals who specialize in natural and cultural resource management, environmental planning, and regulatory compliance.

                                                                

We are seeking an Archaeologist to lead field crews and support office efforts in our growing Bismarck, North Dakota office. Bismarck is a growing western city offering unrivaled economic stability, affordable housing, and access to abundant outdoors activities. This is a regular, full-time hourly position with the potential for advancement.  We offer an informal, team-oriented work environment, competitive wages, and a competitive benefits package, including an employee stock ownership plan (retirement).

 

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Fieldwork (survey, site recording, testing, monitoring, and data recovery) and/or supervising field crews;
  • Leadership (problem solving, decision making, team building, and conflict resolution);
  • Professional report and site form preparation, research, and literature reviews;
  • Adherence to protocol;
  • Data QA/QC, organization, tracking; and
  • Field GPS data collection using Trimble units.

 

Qualifications:

A positive, resourceful, motivated, and detail-oriented individual with the following attributes:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in anthropology or a closely related field (at a minimum)
  • Experience in the northern Plains, Rocky Mountains, or Great Lakes region
  • Previous field supervisory experience
  • Ability to be listed on federal and/or state permits
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to travel and conduct fieldwork for long hours (sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and at high altitudes) and to carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
