Archeological Field Tech position. IRC 44304 Charleston, WV
Michael Baker Jr., Inc., has openings for up to 7 archaeological Field Technicians for Phase I survey around Charleston, WV. This work is expected to begin in February and could last up to 5 weeks. There may be additional fieldwork to follow. The pay rate for this position begins at $13.00/hour (based on experience) for this temporary assignment; overtime (if it occurs) is compensated at time-and-a-half. Lodging and per diem are provided. Lodging is not provided between field sessions. Because of the temporary nature of this position, benefits are not included. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field, along with a Field School or commensurate experience.
The Archaeological Field Technician will be digging 50 cm X 50 cm shovel tests. They will physically exert themselves by walking and carrying equipment including hand tools, a shovel, and a portable artifact screen. Each 10 hour day will consist of walking agricultural fields and digging holes in the open.
