Archaeologist - 111694
Description: Under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Project Archaeologist, or Program Manager, the candidate will be expected to perform survey, testing/data recovery fieldwork, and/or monitoring activities that include distance hiking, field artifact and site identification, shovel testing, test unit excavation, wet-screening, sorting, record-keeping, photography, GPS mapping, sketch mapping, and worksite maintenance as an individual or part of an archaeological crew. Other responsibilities may include computer data input and report writing. Keyword(s): Archaeologist, Anthropologist
Requirements: We are seeking an organized, self-motivated, hard-working individual with a B.A. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field, previous field school experience, and a minimum of one year professional experience in cultural resource management. The candidate must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g. remote locations, hot and cold temperatures, rugged terrain). The majority of work will be local to the San Diego area. Relocation, per diem, and accommodation will not be offered. Previous experience in Southern California, prehistoric artifact assemblages, excavation, and working with Southern California’s Native American communities is advantageous.
