Ethnoscience, Inc., is currently hiring a full-time archaeology field technician to start immediately. The position is based in Billings, Montana, but will require travel throughout Montana and surrounding states. Fieldwork is primarily survey, but also includes testing and mitigation projects. This position will include office work between field projects to assist Field Supervisors. These tasks will include, but are not limited to: filling out site forms, contributing to technical reports, analyzing artifacts, and/or background research.
Applicant must have at minimum a B.A. or B.S. in Archeology/Anthropology and have completed a field school. A working knowledge of Northwest Plains archaeology is preferred, as is field experience in Montana and North Dakota prehistoric site identification. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator software and GPS/GIS equipment is a plus. Fieldwork is generally performed on a 10-day on, 4-day off schedule. Office work is generally performed on a 5-day (M-F) on, 2-day off schedule. The position pays $14.50/hour, plus per diem for out-of-town projects. The applicant is required to live in Billings, Montana.
