[ShovelBums.Org] Full-time Visiting Human Skeletal Analyst UIUC

 

The Illinois State Archaeological Survey, a division of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking a full-time Visiting Human Skeletal Analyst at its American Bottom Field Station, Wood River, Illinois.

 

DUTIES:  Position duties will include the field recovery and laboratory identification, analysis, and interpretation of human skeletal remains recovered from archaeological sites; the supervision of field and lab technicians; evaluations of legal significance of recovered human remains; determination of the applicability of various state and federal laws to human remains and ensuring compliance with such laws; and the preparation and management of related administrative issues.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  BA in anthropology with an emphasis in physical anthropology and human skeletal analysis plus several years of field and laboratory experience; demonstrated ability to complete field projects, laboratory analysis and prepare professional reports and documents. MA preferred. Applicant must be certifiable as a “Human Skeletal Analyst” under the Illinois Human Skeletal Remains Protection Act (20ILCS3440 et seq.).

 

SALARY: Salary is commensurate with experience.

 

APPOINTMENT STATUS:  Visiting Academic Professional, 100% appointment. Full        University benefits including insurance, vacation, and sick days.
