[ShovelBums.Org] Senior Archaeologist/Principal Investigator (SAPI /031412_BIS)

 

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Senior Archaeologist/ Principal Investigator for our Bismarck, North Dakota office. The selected candidate will help expand SWCA's professional reputation in cultural resource consulting by providing assistance on projects in his or her area of expertise. This is a regular, full-time, salaried position reporting to the Cultural Resources Team Lead. Salary will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:
• Manage projects; including staff, fieldwork, and deliverables, within schedule and budget expectations, while maintaining a collaborative work environment between SWCA staff, subcontractors, and clients;
• Oversee and perform all aspects of field research, data collection, inventory, analyses, and report production;
• Prepare proposals, reports, and other technical documents;
• Coordinate with clients; supervise, direct, and instruct subcontractors;
• Coordinate permitting and follow agency guidelines;
• Ensure that fieldwork, analysis, and reporting complies with SWCA QA/QC protocol;
• Take initiative, resolve problems, and implement improved procedures to assure tasks are completed effectively ;
• Work closely with SWCA's managers and directors throughout the company to promote SWCA's business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values (visit www.swca.com for more information);
• Assist with business development goals and objectives for SWCA's Rocky Mountain Central Offices.

Qualifications:
• M.S./M.A. in cultural resources/archaeology, anthropology or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in cultural resource project management, planning, science, or a related field.
• Ability to be listed on archaeological permits issued through North Dakota SHPO.
• Demonstrated experience in developing new business and leading proposal efforts.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to cultural resources/Section 106 and experience working with regional SHPOs and BLM offices.
• Extensive knowledge of cultural resources in the Rocky Mountains/Plains regions.
• Experience with tribal consultation and/or NAGPRA laws.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to foster a friendly, positive, productive, and scholarly working relationship with team members.
• Proven experience with high-level agency consultation.
