Archaeological Field Technician – 121024

Description: Archaeological Field Technicians will work on projects related to FERC, hydropower, transmission lines, and general cultural resources support. Responsibilities include conducting pedestrian survey and site documentation, including feature and artifact identification, preparation of DPR 523 forms, photography, and mapping; and archaeological excavation. Archaeological field technicians are required to perform the following field tasks: • Walk up to 6 miles a day • Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts • Conduct archaeological survey and excavation • Complete site sketch maps • Complete field forms accurately and concisely • Use Trimble or other GPS technology • Digital photography of resources Keyword(s): Cultural Resource Specialist 1, Cultural Resources Specialist, Archaeologist, Anthropologist
Requirements: Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and have completed at least six (6) months of archaeological field experience at an accredited archaeological field school or professional cultural resources firm. Candidates must have experience identifying and recording prehistoric and historic resources, and must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in potentially adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures). Candidates should also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, team focus and strong communication skills (verbal and written), and willingness to learn and execute new tasks.
This position may be subject to a pre-employment drug test and drug and alcohol testing during the course of your employment based upon HDR's Drug Testing and Drug Free Workplace Policy.
