Archaeology Project Director - 121237
Description: To support its growing CRM program in Texas, HDR is seeking qualified archeology personnel for career level positions. Project director/managers are responsible for managing archaeological surveys and site documentation, which includes feature and artifact identification and analyses; performing shovel test pits (STPs); site descriptions; photographs; and mapping. Project managers must possess the technical knowledge to supervise archaeological field technicians who are required to perform the following tasks in the field: • Walk up to 6 miles a day • Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts correctly • Conduct archaeological survey and testing • Complete sketch maps of sites • Complete field forms accurately and concisely • Use Tremble GPS units • Photograph resources In addition, Project Managers must be able to manage the production of professional quality reports for NRHP and NEPA compliance. Requirements: Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience managing field crews in all aspects of field work. Candidates must have experience identifying and recording prehistoric and historic resources. Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures). Candidates must also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks. Applicants will be required to submit both a writing sample and verifiable references.
This position may be subject to a pre-employment drug test and drug and alcohol testing during the course of your employment based upon HDR's Drug Testing and Drug Free Workplace Policy.
