Archaeological Field Technician – 121421

Description: Archaeological Field Technicians are responsible for conducting archaeological monitoring, pedestrian survey, site documentation, excavation, and artifact processing and analysis. Archaeological field technicians are required to perform the following tasks in the field: • Walk up to 6 miles a day • Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts correctly • Conduct archaeological survey and testing • Complete sketch maps of sites • Complete field forms accurately and concisely • Use Tremble GPS units • Photograph resources Keyword(s): Cultural Resource Specialist 1, Cultural Resources Specialist, Archaeologist, Anthropologist
Requirements: Qualified candidates must possess, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and have completed an accredited archaeological field school. Candidates must also have a minimum of 6 months of field experience, including experience working on CRM projects in California, preferably in the City of San Diego and/or surrounding counties. Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures) and must have a valid California driver's license. Candidates should also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks.
This position may be subject to a pre-employment drug test and drug and alcohol testing during the course of your employment based upon HDR's Drug Testing and Drug Free Workplace Policy.
