Cardno TEC is composed of technical specialists with industry and functional expertise across both the public and private sectors.  Cardno TEC is currently hiring for a Staff Archaeologist/Principal Investigator to work out of our Solana Beach, CA location.

 

The Staff Archaeologist/Principal Investigator position includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

 

·         Develop proposals, project budgets and schedules

·         Market to regional clients

·         Manage multiple projects

·         Direct fieldwork and field crews

·         Direct research and write reports and sections for NEPA and CEQA projects

·         Provide documentation for Section 106 and Native American Consultation

·         Responsible for inventory, processing and curation management of archaeological materials

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

 

·         Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgment

·         Excellent physical fitness, including the ability to walk up to 15 miles a day in rough and uneven terrain

·         Must have strong writing skills

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

 

Additional Considerations:

 

·         May be required to work in project locations remote from their home office for extended time periods, and such remote deployments may recur with as little as three (3) calendar days intervening between deployments.

 

Training and Experience:

 

·         A graduate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field

·         At least 8 years of professional experience in the discipline of archaeology with at least three years of experience in California

·         DOD and DHS experience/clients a plus

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

·         The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, talk, and hear.

·         The employee is frequently required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

·         The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.

·         Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

·         The employee may be required to walk multiple miles a day in rough and uneven terrain and transport up to 35 pounds of gear.

·         Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
