PROJECT ARCHAEOLOGIST POSITION

July 2010

Montgomery Archaeological Consultants (MOAC) has an immediate opening for a Cultural Resource Project Archaeologist based in our Vernal, Utah office. This is a full-time, benefited position involving archaeological fieldwork and supervising field crews throughout Utah. Minimum requirements include a M.A./M.S. degree in Anthropology or Archaeology. Experience in the Intermountain West is preferred. Primary responsibilities include direction and participation in archaeological surveys and documentation; mitigation of historic or prehistoric sites; analysis of survey and/or excavation data; and preparation of technical/research reports. Other duties may involve preparation of technical and cost proposals and administrative duties. The successful applicant must have good writing and analytical abilities. The ability to meet deadlines is essential. Applicants must be willing to travel and also have a good driving record.

Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience. All work over 40 hrs will be paid at time and a half. Benefits include 401k plan, health insurance, vacation pay, and performance based incentives.

The most important aspect of this list is that it is for one purpose only.: announcing jobs/non paying volunteer postings in the international CRM field at all levels; Field Tech, Professors, SHPO's, etc...  Caveat Emptor though my friends.  Not all jobs pay the same, nor is their treatment of employees the same - as the companies are checking your references, you should also check them out - make sure they pay fair wages, treat their employees professionally, and do quality work.  If you have at least a BA you deserve fair remuneration, so ask for it, and in turn you provide your employer with excellent service.   You ARE a trained professional, NOT a "shovelbum"  - the name is in jest - act professional, expect to be treated like one.
