Thank you for you responses to my question. I felt pretty stupid yesterday asking a question that was out of the realm of the group. Sorry about that. I thought I was okay since some of these kiddos may end up being "suspected CAS." I appreciate people willing to chime in anyway. I travel (from house to house) to see my babies and toddlers and have no colleagues to speak of, but I always have so many questions, and you seem like some pretty smart SLPs. I love the idea of the parent diaries because I already have the "communication journals" in place in each home. I always leave a composition notebook for the family where I can leave notes and suggestions and handouts for them to read after I leave. However, I was not exactly sure what to have the parents do with the notebook in return, but for some I just asked them to write down new words. However, if the child does not say any new words in a week, they feel bad and have nothing to write. So, I think this would be good to have them include a broader range of information, such as new sounds and syllable combinations they are hearing. I would love to have a copy of the parent diaries you obtained. I will also read the suggested article. Thanks again!
Kerry
