SWCA is actively seeking to fill one or more Archaeological Field Technician positions within our Cultural Resources Program for our Denver office. These are seasonal hourly positions and the candidate will typically work 40 hours per week depending on workload. Overtime may be possible. Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience. Exceptions to the below qualifications may be made for applicants that can demonstrate comparable experience.

Responsibilities of a Field Technician include:

• Working in the field under the supervision of Crew Chiefs and/or Field Directors in the performance of archaeological fieldwork;
• Conducting archaeological monitoring, survey, testing, and data recovery;
• Contributing to team efforts during cultural resources field and lab work;
• Taking initiative, resolving problems, and improving procedures to ensure tasks are completed effectively;
• Assisting with mapping responsibilities in the field, including the collection of GPS data using Trimble units (knowledge of ArcPad is a plus).

Qualifications of a Field Technician include:

• Six months field experience with a range of field methodologies, including survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring;
• A Bachelor's Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field is required;
• An accredited Field School Certification (or equivalent experience);
• Ability to travel and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and at high altitudes, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
