SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a mid-level Project Manager/Archaeologist to support our archaeology and cultural resources management, environmental planning, impact assessment, regulatory compliance and permitting projects. This position will offer professional opportunities to directly support a variety of environmental and cultural resources management consulting services for private and public sector clients. This is a regular, full-time hourly position (40-hour standard workweek, overtime eligible) reporting to the Bismarck-based CRM team leader. Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:
Perform archaeological/cultural resources fieldwork, prepare cultural resources management reports, participate in land use-related impact assessment and planning, lead field teams and assist with managing project staff performance, productivity, and safety.

Support proposal development (i.e., scopes of work & related budgets), quality management of work processes and products (i.e., field study design & implementation, data collection & analysis, information synthesis & interpretations, technical peer reviews), project/task planning and execution (i.e., scope, schedule, budget, quality objectives), and assist with client-agency interface for regulatory compliance/permitting.

Qualifications:
B.A. degree (M.A. degree preferred) in applicable field (archaeology, anthropology, or historic preservation), with technical background in cultural resources management, prehistoric and historical archaeology, land use/environmental planning and heritage resource protection; 3-6 years of progressively responsible work experience; past experience as a Principal Investigator in cultural resources management in Western States is preferred; 2 years of project management and team leadership experience is preferred; prior experience in private sector or environmental consulting is desired.

Expertise in all aspects of cultural resources management projects, including field research and database searches, data collection and analysis, regulatory agency and tribal consultations (i.e., State and Tribal Historic Preservation Officers), technical reports (i.e., Phase I, II, & III archaeological investigations & technical reports) and cultural resources management plans; ability to write and review cultural resources reports for NHPA compliance and environmental impact assessments for NEPA/SEPA compliance.

Regional field and analytic experience in the Northern Plains, Rocky Mountains, or Great Lakes region is essential; knowledge of pertinent federal and state cultural resources laws/regulations, and agency policies/cultures (i.e., SHPO, BLM, BIA, USFS, BOR, others) is a plus; meet the Secretary of Interior's qualification requirements in the areas of Anthropology, Archaeology, or Historic Preservation.

Demonstrated experience in proposal development, project/task planning and execution, project team leadership and personnel supervision, and best practices for project/ technical management.
