Field Technicians; Florida.
Florida Archeological Consulting, Inc., located in Central Florida, is accepting applications for field technicians for upcoming temporary projects throughout peninsular Florida. Preferably, applicants should have a BA in archeology, anthropology, or related field, field school or the equivalent field experience, and some prior experience in Florida. Salary will be based on experience, but field technician pay starts at $11.00/hr. Per diem, lodging, and mileage are provided for all project requiring overnight stays. For applicants attending classes (graduate students encouraged to apply), work days can be accommodated to class schedule.
Job skills needed for this position include the ability to conduct shovel testing, which requires physical labor, often in thickly wooded areas, familiarity with the use of a compass and a handheld GPS device, ability to read and interpret USGS maps and aerial photos, notetaking, and artifact identification.
