Zia Engineering & Environmental Consultants, LLC is seeking a Principal Investigator for full time employment in the field of archaeology in our Yuma, AZ office. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and/or coordinating all phases of cultural resources work in a project or multiple projects with particular emphasis on compliance with Section 106 of the NHPA, specific federal agencies and state historic preservation requirements. Requirements for the position must include: ability to meet professional qualifications for archaeology as outlined in 36 CRF, Part 61, Appendix A of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards. Additional requirements include a Masters Degree in archaeology, anthropology, or other related field; demonstrated ability to complete cultural resources project from initial budgeting to finalized technical report; and 10 years cultural resources supervisory experience in Arizona, New Mexico, and/or far eastern California. Desirable skills include:
1. The ability to obtain or meet cultural resources permitting requirements in Arizona.
2. The ability to operate a PC, GIS, GPS, total station and/or other technical
capabilities. Experience with ESRI ArcView GIS software a distinct plus.
3. Excellent report writing skills.
4. The ability to communicate with clients' representatives, including archaeologists, purchasing staff, engineers, architects, and designers, applicable regulatory agencies from initiation of projects through to completion.
5. Management and development of several concurrent projects from project budgeting to final report.
6. Ability to work with a dynamic group of professionals including biologists,
engineers, geologists, etc.
7. Familiarity with state and federal cultural resources regulations.
8. The ability to find creative solutions to a variety of work related issues.
