GIS ANALYST POSITION OPENING
OFFICE OF CONTRACT ARCHEOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO

The Office of Contract Archeology, University of New Mexico is seeking an experienced GIS Analyst with an archeological background to work in our Albuquerque office. This is a full-time benefitted position with salary negotiable depending upon education and experience.

Position Summary
Under general supervision, provides and coordinates complex research/data analysis, systems design, programming, and support of computer-based GIS/GPS (Geographic Information Systems/Global Positioning Systems) mapping and related statistical software. Provides technical leadership and guidance to other archeologists and support staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 1 to 3 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of GPS and total station data collection techniques including use of Trimble, Topcon and
similar professional equipment.
Demonstrated proficiency in drafting and drawing skills and knowledge of cartographic techniques, and
map reading.
Knowledge and proficiency in using software including MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS,
and AutoCAD.
Demonstrated proficiency in compiling and integrating geospatial data from a wide variety of sources-
Web, GPS, EDM, field maps, and digitizer--into publishable maps for technical reports.
Ability to use aerial orthophotographs.
Knowledge and experience of archeological fieldwork methods for both survey and excavation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with report production.
Familiarity with Terra Sync and ArcPad.
Proficiency in Web design.

The Office of Contract Archeology is a University of New Mexico affiliated firm established in 1974 with experience in all facets of cultural resources management throughout New Mexico and adjacent states. A division of the UNM Maxwell Museum of Anthropology with offices on the UNM campus, OCA has taken a lead role in implementing high quality, innovative archeological, ethnographic, and historical research in the performance of contracts for the private sector, federal agencies, state agencies, and local communities.
