The Illinois State Archaeological Survey (ISAS), a Division of the Prairie Research Institute, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, is seeking a Public Engagement Coordinator to be stationed at its Champaign Office. This position will coordinate and develop Illinois State Archaeological Survey (ISAS) public engagement through educational outreach with a special emphasis on K–12 students and the general public. Manage logistical support for ISAS sponsored professional conferences, lectures, meetings, and other events. Assist with other public and professional outreach events as required. The successful candidate must have a BA plus at least 36 months experience in museum design, public engagement, web and internet experience and 36 months experience in archaeological fieldwork, and/or analysis and interpretation of archaeological materials. Should have demonstrated experience in successfully organizing professional events and conferences and an ability to complete outreach projects in a timely and competent manner.
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Some duties associated with this position will involve travel across the state and the Midwest. Basic familiarity with computer word processing and graphic programs including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign.
This is an academic professional position. Salary is negotiable based on experience. Proposed starting date is as soon as possible after the closing date.
