[ShovelBums.Org] P.I./Senior Archaeologists in ND and Eastern MT

P.I./Senior Archaeologists

Responsiveness and problem-solving:   if you share these qualities, Juniper LCC, in Bismarck, ND, invites you to join our growing company.  We are hiring M.A. level P.I./Senior Archaeologists to work as part of our team supporting energy, transportation, and infrastructure projects throughout North Dakota and Eastern Montana.  Under the supervision of company prinicipals and senior staff, these P.I./Senior Archaeologists are responsible for directing archival research, field survey, excavation, and construction monitoring in accordance with federal, tribal, and state standards. You will work with archaeologists, scientists, and engineers on a variety of projects for both government and private industry.  These are temporary, full-time appointments, but there is great potential for continuous employment for exceptional individuals.  Juniper is looking for successful senior professionals to join our company on a permanent basis.

Should a successful employee be selected for a permanent position, Juniper offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package including health care and 401(k) program, life/ltd/std/, holidays, etc..  Senior Archaeologists will be paid $19-$25 per hour, depending upon experience.  Lodging accommodations and $45 per day per diem are provided during field projects -- you are responsible for housing on days off.  Some field efforts will be extended, overtime will be paid.

Candidates MUST have the temperament and physical stamina to consistently conduct fast-paced fieldwork, sometimes independently, in rugged terrain and/or in harsh weather conditions, usually with no shade, sometimes up to 12 hours per day. A strong, professional demeanor is required.  You must be willing to be in communication with senior staff on an ongoing basis.  Western ND and Eastern MT have Great Plains/badlands terrain and a changeable climate. Housing is difficult to find and sometimes requires unusual and rugged arrangements, and a lot of driving. Western North Dakota has been compared to San Francisco during the gold rush, so flexibility, communication, and problem solving attitudes are a must.

At minimum, applicants should have a Masters degree in Anthropology or related field, and four or more years of experience, with at least two years at the Crew Chief, Supervisor, Senior Archaeologist level. Experience in Great Plains archaeology is preferred.  Experience with tribal consultation and collaboration a strong plus.  Applicants must have experience in supervising archaeological fieldwork, including survey, testing, and data recovery; report writing; archival research; and management of field personnel.  P.I./Senior Archaeologists are expected to coordinate the necessary field equipment and vehicles, maintain records of all project activities, coordinate with the senior staff regarding project progress, gather and communicate accurate digital data, and complete site forms and draft reports in response to a demanding schedule.   Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and experience in GIS based applications is preferred.  You must be willing to work with others in a collaborative, small business setting, supporting others' projects, editing and pitching in where needed, and performing other company business as assigned.

Please email resume with three work references to Beth Nodland at bnodland@aol.com.  For more information, please call John Morrison at (701) 400-3575 or j.morrison@bis.midco.net

The most important aspect of this list is that it is for one purpose only.: announcing jobs/non paying volunteer postings in the international CRM field at all levels; Field Tech, Professors, SHPOs, etc...  Caveat Emptor though my friends.  Not all jobs pay the same, nor is their treatment of employees the same - as the companies are checking your references, you should also check them out - make sure they pay fair wages, treat their employees professionally, and do quality work.  If you have at least a BA you deserve fair remuneration, so ask for it, and in turn you provide your employer with excellent service.   You ARE a trained professional, NOT a "shovelbum"  - the name is in jest - act professional, expect to be treated like one.
