Associate Historical Archaeologist
Aspen Environmental Group (Sacramento Office) seeks an experienced Associate Historical Archaeologist for its growing cultural resources section. Aspen's multidisciplinary staff provides environmental compliance, impact assessment, and mitigation services for a wide spectrum of energy and infrastructure projects (www.aspeneg.com).
This is a temporary, full-time position for up to 6-9 months, with potential for a permanent, full-time appointment. Pay commensurate with experience. Should the successful applicant be selected for a permanent position, Aspen offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: authoring EIS/EIR sections and compliance documents such as treatment plans and programmatic agreements; technical review of compliance documents; assisting with the preparation of multidisciplinary proposals; and training staff in cultural resource task completion and reviewing work of other team members.
Minimum requirements include: M.A. or M.S. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or other closely related field; excellent writing skills; at least 10 years of experience including field and laboratory settings; experience in California cultural resources management; project management experience; a strong working knowledge of the federal and state cultural resources regulatory settings; ability to function effectively in a team environment, but also to work independently; ability to communicate effectively in writing and through oral presentations; and an ability to meet U.S. Secretary of the Interior standards for historical archaeology and qualify as a Registered Professional Archaeologist. Familiarity with 19th and 20th century historical resources and experience and/or training in GIS a plus.
