Field Tech Opening
Role:
Michael Baker Jr., Inc. has openings for up to eight Archaeological Field Technicians for Phase I survey in the Pittsburgh area and throughout Pennsylvania. Preference will be given to qualified individuals who live within a few hours of the Moon Township Office. This work is expected to begin mid-June and could last from 3 to 6 weeks. The pay rate for the position is expected to be about $14.00/hour for this temporary assignment. Lodging and per diem will be provided on projects requiring overnight stay. Because of the temporary nature of this position, benefits are not included. Work will consist of walkover and the excavation of shovel test probes within the established project area.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field, along with a Field School or commensurate experience.
Field Tech Supervisor
Michael Baker Jr.,Inc., is recruiting for 1 or 2 archaeologists to work as Field Supervisor on Phase I-III cultural resource management projects throughout the eastern United States. The position entails the planning and organization of field investigations, supervision of field crews, data collection, and subsequent report preparation.
The position is for a temporary position with the possibility of transitioning to full-time with benefits.
Minimum requirements include a Master's Degree in archaeology or cultural resource management and must be able to meet appropriate professional standards as outlined in Archaeology and Historic Preservation: Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines, Federal Register, Volume 48, No. 190,September 29, 1983, Pt. IV. Qualifications include Also requires a minimum of 2 years experience in conducting Phase I surveys and Phase II field investigations on both prehistoric and historic archaeological sites. Phase III data recovery experience and artifact analysis skills are preferred.
Candidate must have strong writing skills; and be competent with using MS Word. Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Access, and/or statistical analysis is preferred.
