Field Archaeologist/GIS Technician

Applications are currently being accepted for a Temporary Field Archaeologist/GIS Technician. This temporary position could “potentially” lead to a future permanent position.

Archaeological field experience is required, as well as experienced GIS technician. Archaeological field technicians are required to perform the following tasks in the field.

-Walk up to 6 miles a day

-Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts correctly

-Conduct archaeological survey, testing, data recovery, laboratory analysis, and/or construction monitoring.

-Complete sketch maps of sites

-Complete field forms accurately

-Use GPS units efficiently

-Photograph resources

GIS tech requirements:

Must have experience in ESRI ArcView 9.2 or higher. Strong skills in GIS data editing and map production

Excellent organizational skills

The ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines at one time. In the office as well as, in the field.

The ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients.

Strong work ethics

Background in CRM archaeology

Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field. Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures).
