[ShovelBums.Org] Southern California - Archaeological Monitor

 

PanGIS currently has an opening for an Archaeological Monitor to join our team in Southern California. Cultural resource monitoring will include inspection of the construction line, recording of new resources, and evaluations of unanticipated finds. Responsibilities will include field monitoring, site reports, site recording, and site evaluations. Job requires that monitor stay in Blythe or Palm Desert for 5 to 6 days per week in a hotel. Most days include overtime (at time and a half). Per diem is a flat daily fee with no receipts required. (Hotel is paid for by PanGIS.)

• BA/BS Required
• Must be familiar with both prehistoric and historic archaeological sites in Southern California.
• There is the high potential for full time employment and overtime depending on work load and schedules.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with using GPS (TerraSYNC)
• Willingness to work under varied weather conditions.
• Not required, but prefer candidates that have their own 4x4 vehicle they are willing to drive to work sites. Reimbursed at federal mileage rates (currently 0.555 cents per mile)
