WHPacific is looking for a qualified archaeologist for a 1-2 week project in July 2012 in western Oregon State and additional project work on an as-needed basis throughout the summer and fall. Project work includes both fieldwork and submission of a formal cultural resource reports. A successful candidate must meet the minimum requirements for conducting archaeological investigations in Oregon State, in accordance with ORS 390.235. Experience with Northwest cultural groups and familiarity with cultural material found in the Northwest coastal environment is preferred.
A qualified archaeologist fulfills the following requirements:
Post-graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, history, classics or other germane discipline with a specialization in archaeology, or documented equivalency of such a degree
Twelve weeks of supervised experience in basic archaeological field research, including both survey and excavation
Four weeks of laboratory analysis or curation
Have designed and executed an archaeological study, as evidenced by a Master of Arts or Master of Science thesis dealing with archaeological field research
WHPacific is in the processes of expanding services to include cultural resource management and this position has great potential for future work in Oregon, Washington and Alaska.
