The Louis Berger Group, Inc. (LBG) is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Field Archaeologist position to work on an upcoming archaeological survey in Tennessee.
DESCRIPTION
Under close supervision, field archaeologists will be responsible for accurate and complete implementation of basic archaeological field techniques to test designated project areas for archaeological deposits, collect samples, and record field results.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Testing and excavating of designated areas and archaeological sites
Screening soil matrix for archaeological evidence
Collecting samples as directed
Completing field forms, drawing sketch maps, preparing profile and plan view field drawings
Completing field inventory forms of recovered artifacts and samples
Washing, bagging, and labeling artifacts as directed
Other field, lab, or office related duties as assigned
Perform work in a variety of environmental settings including fields, woodlots, urban areas, roadway corridors, on military bases, or other cultural resource projects
Receives close supervision on all aspects of assignments
Typically reports to a Crew Chief, Field Supervisor, or Archaeologist
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a BA/BS degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field
Completion of an archaeological field school OR demonstrated prior field experience
Must be able to stand or kneel for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather
Ability to walk/hike in rugged and rough terrain a must
Competitive salaries; hourly pay is based upon experience. Full benefits package includes vacation, sick leave, holidays, medical / dental / life / disability insurance, 401K plan, etc.
