[ShovelBums.Org] Field Archaeologists needed for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Area

Hunter Research, Inc. is currently seeking qualified applicants for two Field Archaeologist positions to work on a Phase I project in southeastern Pennsylvania. The pay rate is $15.26 an hour.  The positions are temporary (9 weeks).  This project includes a significant amount of HAZMAT work.

The chief contaminant of concern is raw (mined) asbestos.  Level C personal protective equipment (PPE) will include a respirator with an air-purifying cartridge, and tyvek coveralls.  There will be an on-site health and safety professional who will implement the HASP and monitoring protocols.  PPE and baseline medical testing will be provided.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology or related field. A minimum of one year's experience in conducting CRM field investigations on both prehistoric and historic archaeological sites is preferred.

Documented OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is essential.  The 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher course will be provided to successful candidates whose certification is not current.

For this project there is no per diem or mileage allowance available.

Candidates will preferably reside within the Philadelphia, PA commuting area.

Interested candidates should email their resume and documentation of 40-hour OSHA/HAZWOPER certification (including date of latest 8-hour refresher) to Patricia Madrigal (madrigal@hunterresearch.com).  We will contact only those placed on a short list of applicants.

The most important aspect of this list is that it is for one purpose only.: announcing jobs/non paying volunteer postings in the international CRM field at all levels; Field Tech, Professors, SHPO's, etc...  Caveat Emptor though my friends.  Not all jobs pay the same, nor is their treatment of employees the same - as the companies are checking your references, you should also check them out - make sure they pay fair wages, treat their employees professionally, and do quality work.  If you have at least a BA you deserve fair remuneration, so ask for it, and in turn you provide your employer with excellent service.   You ARE a trained professional, NOT a "shovelbum"  - the name is in jest - act professional, expect to be treated like one.
