Southeastern Archaeological Research, Inc. (SEARCH) is seeking for immediate hire a Curation and Conservation Director. The position will be based out of the SEARCH office in Williamsburg, Virginia and will include extended travel to collections, museums, curation facilities and laboratories nationwide, but primarily in Washington DC, San Francisco, North Carolina, and the Southeast. Highly qualified applicants that are based in DC are encouraged to apply. The position will be responsible for collections management, conservation, curation preparation, laboratory supervision, provenance research, public interpretation, museum display development, database management, and technical writing.
This will be a senior-level, full-time, salaried position and applicants should have:
--Ph.D. or M.A. in Museum Studies or Anthropology, or a related field
--Minimum of 10 years experience at the Supervisory level
--Command of Federal and DoD cultural resource law, regulations, and recommended practices
--Familiarity with DoD installation protocol
--Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate existing collections and provide conservation services covering an array of historic material types (including but not limited to textiles, clothing metals, leather, wood, ceramics, glass, and small arms)
--Superior technical writing ability
--Superior project management skills
