[ShovelBums.Org] ACS - Tempe AZ - on-call archeology field positions

Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. (ACS) of Tempe, Arizona, is seeking to identify multiple archaeologists at varying levels of education and experience to serve on our on-call list of archaeological field crew positions. A B.A. for a Field/Lab Archaeologist or an M.A./M.S. in Anthropology (or related field) for a Crew Chief or Field Director is required. We are particularly seeking experienced personnel who can assist us in a variety of field capacities for both survey and excavation projects. Please note: while we have multiple field projects ongoing over the next few weeks that may need supplemental field crew, this posting is also intended to place you on ACS' on-call list for future employment. Initial work assignments may be temporary (project-specific). However, when full time openings occur, those individuals who have demonstrated the necessary skills and professionalism during previous employment with ACS will receive priority consideration for full time hire.

The duties of some of these positions may regularly require standing, walking, or climbing into and out of trenches and excavation units, using hands to manipulate, lift, or carry items, talking, and hearing. They occasionally require crossing uneven terrain, climbing over fences, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. All employees must be able to follow instructions, ask questions when needed, be able to work independently once parameters have been set, and work cooperatively as part of a team, at both the project and company-wide levels.

Pay levels are competitive and commensurate with experience. Full time positions are eligible for eight paid holidays, and after a three-month introductory period, for an additional two paid holidays per year. They are also eligible for participation in a 401(k) program after six months. Individuals hired as full time employees at the level of crew chiefs and above are hired into salaried positions, exempt from federal labor laws, and are eligible for the full ACS benefits package, including vacation, sick leave, and a significant portion of the employee's health and dental insurance paid under the QPOS (HMO-based) company plan. The same benefits are provided for full time field archaeologists after one full year of employment.

For additional information, interested parties should check the "Job Opportunities" section of the ACS web site (http://www.acstempe.com). Please send current resume with a cover letter identifying the level at which you wish to be considered and the names and phone numbers/e-mail addresses of three references who can comment on your experience to: acs_jobs'at'acstempe'dot'com. Please include the name of the position you are applying for in the subject line of your e-mail. ACS does not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.

The most important aspect of this list is that it is for one purpose only.: announcing jobs/non paying volunteer postings in the international CRM field at all levels; Field Tech, Professors, SHPOs, etc...  Caveat Emptor though my friends.  Not all jobs pay the same, nor is their treatment of employees the same - as the companies are checking your references, you should also check them out - make sure they pay fair wages, treat their employees professionally, and do quality work.  If you have at least a BA you deserve fair remuneration, so ask for it, and in turn you provide your employer with excellent service.   You ARE a trained professional, NOT a "shovelbum"  - the name is in jest - act professional, expect to be treated like one.
