[ShovelBums.Org] 3 Archaeology Field Technicians, Ghostpine Environmental Services Ltd. Calgary, Alberta, Canada, $20-24/hr, $140PD, Single Occ Hotel

 

Ghostpine Environmental Services Ltd is a medium-sized full service environmental and heritage consulting company. We are seeking up to 3 field technicians for the 2011 spring and summer season. Field work will involve survey, deep testing, and excavation in Western Canada (Alberta, Saskatchewan). There is a possibility employment could extend to the end of 2011.

 

Applicants must be willing to work away from home for long periods of time and in all weather conditions.

 

Salary will be between $20 and $24 depending on experience. A $140 per diem will be offered for overnight field days. All employees will cover their own hotel and food from the per diem. When local lodgings are more expensive, the per diem will be increased as warranted.

 

A minimum of one previous field season of CRM is required. Experience in Western Canadian archaeology will be an asset.

 

The following safety tickets are required and must be obtained prior to employment;

 

Standard First Aid with Level C CPR

ATV Safety

H2S Alive (not required for all positions)

Position Information: This is a full time, permanent position.
Duty Locations: Boise, ID.

Job Description Summary:

Geo-Marine Inc. is seeking a dedicated, self-motivated Project Archaeologist with both enthusiasm and drive to lead efforts in providing cultural resources management services in the western United States. Applicants must be able to demonstrate research, writing, and management experience crucial to directing archaeological field research and producing quality reports for both federal and commercial clients. Primary responsibilities will include supervising cultural resources investigations throughout the Great Basin/Plateau Regions including intensive pedestrian survey, background research (archaeological and archival), the evaluation and testing of archaeological sites, data recovery, and monitoring.

Requirements

Candidates must have an M.A. degree in Anthropology; 3-4 years of work experience; and 1 year of experience as a Project Archaeologist. The preferred candidate will have working familiarity with federal and state laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines governing cultural resources. Prior archaeological experience in the northern Great Basin and Plateau regions and surrounding areas is necessary. Applicants must also be permittable as a Field Director for BLM-related projects in Nevada, Utah, and Idaho.

Other Desirable Skills

* Lithic Analysis (particularly experience with Paleoindian asemblages)
* Linear right-of-way experience
* NEPA documentation
* Tribal consultation
* GIS Support
* Database management

Other Information

Compensation package will be commensurate with experience.
